Residents wishing to Adopt A Garden area can contact the Recreation Office for an application. Areas are to be maintained by the individual, group or businesses throughout the year. A sign will be prepared for each garden sponsor.
The Ryan Caspare Pavilion is located at Memorial Park. This area has been host to many birthday parties, family reunions, scouting troop meetings, recreation team parties, etc. Permits for the use of the area can be obtained at the Recreation Office.
There are barbeque areas and picnic tables set up.
You must show proof you are a town resident in order to secure a permit. There is no fee for the use of this area. A Hold Harmless Agreement is required.
Recreation offers a six-week camp to town residents at a minimal cost $100.00 per child. Camp runs four hours 9:00-1:00 Monday through Friday at Memorial Park. Camp is closed for inclement weather.
Kindergarten through 8th Graders attend.
Daily activities include tennis, volleyball, arts & crafts, ping-pong, whiffle ball, basketball, baseball, knock hockey, and board games. Use of the Swim Club on Mondays is offered from the hours of 9:00 to Noon at no extra cost to parents.
There are special activity days such as Ice Cream Sundae Day, Crazy Hair Day, Carnivale Day, Camp Dance. We have a visiting petting zoo, reptile show, puppet show, volleyball/ Beach Day, basketball competitions, keroke show, along with special visit days from our fire department volunteers.
Out of camp trips are offered to campers at a minimal cost to Bowler City, Ice House, Closter Golf, Van Saun Park and Demarest Farms.
Ice cream may be purchased during camp.
All volunteer coaches in the Borough of Dumont MUST have attended a Coaches Certification Course and submit to fingerprinting and background checks. Certification courses are held through out the year at the beginning of each season at no cost to the coaches. Certification Classes are offered at the Borough Hall from 7-9pm in the court room. Fingerprinting is done at the time of the class. Certification cards are issued the evening of the class. Certification is noted in the Recreation database to be kept on file.
